If You Give a Mouse a Cookie

Today we celebrated the end of our If You Give a Mouse a Cookie unit.  We have so enjoyed this book and talking about sequencing a story.  To celebrate, we made mouse headbands and had milk and cookies like the mouse in the book!

Morning Class Field Trip to Nivens

This morning we took a trip to Nivens Apple Farm!  It was so much fun looking at all of the signs of fall.  We had a great time picking apples and pumpkins, tasting apple cider and visiting with the animals.  Fall is one of our favorite seasons, and we were so glad to celebrate this unit by visiting a real apple farm.

We started off our day by going on a hayride around the farm.  We learned about the Nivens family and what all they have to do to get the farm ready.
Will enjoyed the ride!
So did Marley!
Layla got to enjoy the hayride with her brother.
Next, we got off to pick apples in the orchard.

We had such good apple pickers!!
Layla found a BIG pumpkin!
Marley found one that was just her size.
Will with his pumpkin.
Then, we walked to see the animals.
Our favorite animals were the llamas!

Last, we enjoyed a special snack: fall Little Debbie cakes!

We had a great day at the farm!  It was lots of fall fun!!

Blue Playdough!!

Last week to celebrate the end of blue week, we made blue playdough!  It was so much fun and a great learning experience for the kids!
First, we had to read our recipe.
Next, Tucker added our first cup of flour.
Then, Kaydin added another cup of flour.
Salina added our cup of salt.
Carter added our 2 cups of water.
We then added 2 tablespoons of oil, 4 teaspoons of cream of tartar, a small package of blue jello and a few drops of blue food coloring.
We put our mixture on some heat for a few minutes and ta-da....we had blue playdough!!
The kids all enjoyed "cooking" our playdough and celebrating having such a good week!

Dress Up Time

During the first week of school, we introduced each center one at a time.  On this day, we introduced the kids to our "dress-up center"!
We had lots of fun dressing up in the different costumes and outfits.  Will was a little tired after trying on his costume!
