Meet Our New Class
We have a great group of students this year. They are full of energy and always eager to learn new things. They are very sweet! Mrs. Glenn and I have really enjoyed getting to know each child during the first few weeks of school. We are looking forward to having a great school year!

Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!
On Wednesday, March 2nd, we celebrated Dr. Seuss' birthday. We read The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham. We made The Cat in the Hat hats and we even ate our own version of green eggs. We had lots of fun learning about rhyming words and opposites. It was a great day!

100th Day of School
On Wednesday, February 2nd, we celebrated the 100th day of school! We had a day full of counting fun! Each student was asked to bring in a collection of 100 things. We made a 100th day snack, and we counted to 100 in many different ways throughout the day!

Syriah brought 100 pencils and Amanda had 100 rubber bands
Salina and Andrew had 100 pennies and Jordi had 100 shapes
Then we made our 100th day snack!Jordi added 100 animal crackers.
Salina added 100 fruit loops.
Amanda added 100 marshmallows.
Syriah brought in 100 gummy snacks!
Tony added 100 pretzels.
and Andrew added 100 yummy M&Ms

Andrew was ready to go home after a funfilled 100th day of school!
It's been a great 100 days with the morning kids, but there is still a lot to learn in the last 80!
The afternoon kids also brought in some great collections!

We then practiced our fine motor skills by coloring and cutting out an outline of the numeral 100.

And Delaney topped it off with 100 marshmallows.

Snow Day at School
Last Friday, after a week off of school due to "real" snow, we decided to have a "Snow Day" at school! The day was full of fun activities centered around the "white stuff".
The morning class started off the day creating a snow scene painting.
Then, some of the kids wanted to dress up as "snowpals". Here is "Snowpal Andrew"!

Then we had a good ol' fashion snowball fight! (with cotton balls)
And for snack...snowballs! (aka:marshmallows)
The afternoon class got to make "snow"!
All we had to do was add water to the "Insta-snow" and then the boys had lots of fun playing with it!
Of course, then we had to write about the experience.
The boys explored the elements of winter through their five senses.

- My name is Julie Henderson. I graduated from Winthrop University in 2006 with a B.S. degree in special education with an emphasis in severe disabilities. In December 2009, I graduated with my Masters in Education. This is my eighth year of teaching. My first two years I taught a K-1 self-contained class for children with orthopedic impairments at Sara Collins Elementary in Greenville County.
